Work out videos found! :)

Just a quick entry here, thought I'd mention that I totally forgot I had workout videos for belly dance, hula, Latin and hip hop dancing as well as yoga. My step mom has my Pilates dvds. I even have a yoga mat in my closet!! I should probably pull these things out and use them.. right? I also have my back deck which is a deck of cards with a series of instructions and images of exercises designed for your back and posture using Pilates and yoga style poses among other stretches. I have used it a few times and find it very useful and my back most definitely gets a stretch and it does help.

I've always needed help with posture to be honest. I sit at my desk most of the time with a slouch unless the chair is designed to help with that. Months ago I did get a desk chair for home that will help and I can sit comfortably in. My one at work is supposed to be ergonomic and does help but still hurts my back sometimes probably because I need the stretches.

Anyway I'm thinking I should get back into belly dance and actually start and try the hula ones. I've done them only a few times, I have 4 videos of that alone for beginners. It's quite good and actually after doing the Zumba games I have I'm more prepared to do them. When looking and trying workout dvds it's hard to find a good one with a good instructor. Admittedly the ones for latin and hip hop I find a little bit difficult to get into and follow along and I find needs to slow down for me though they do have a broken down chapter of all the steps. I guess it's because I'm focusing on getting it right also without hurting myself which is also important. The dvd's I do like break things down, take it slow and encourage you with alternatives if you can't quite get it right away so that you don't hurt yourself as well as showing how it is done proper and how it should be felt and seen if done properly vs not.

A work out should be fun and bring up your heart rate. It shouldn't hurt per se , I mean the burning feeling of your muscles stretching etc. is good but it shouldn't hurt as if you're hurting yourself before, during or after your work out. Remember not to push yourself too far. Even if it's 10 minutes is good enough to start because if you're not in shape then you risk injuring yourself. And like all videos etc. say consult your doctor before beginning any work out program if you're already injured, out of balance or have any other cardio or health issues. You don't want to keel over during it.

I also don't know if I mentioned before that I had bought some weights. I bought two of each, 2lbs and 4lbs weights for toning my arms. I will be posting later some links to some exercises I have found for basic toning and simple work outs with weights. One such site is this site for weight lifting among other items. I find it useful.

And that is tonight's entry. I am getting over a cold/flu and so it's now time for bed.. yes you must remember to be well rested when sick with lots of fluids. And if you can get in a small work out such as some small stretches then definitely do so even while ill. That way you don't get all stiff etc. for laying about too long. :)  Have a good week everyone!
